Rare 80's funk Band from Venice CA, lead by Terry Hamilton and George Oliver that included the young, beautiful Carla Martin.This song was released on Hang Tough Records first as a promo in July of 1986. Larry Mayes was then recruited as a partner and then the record was officially realeased in september of 1986 with a logo on it.-This video was shot in febuary of 1987 at Los Angeles Southwest College. The Scene was Detroit’s answer to Soul Train, a now-legendary local TV dance show which aired from 1975-1987, and became known for breaking early techno records alongside the usual disco and funk.

07.07.2011: DO WE DO @ KONG

I was kindly invited by the Kong crew from Munich to play at their weekly "Do We Do" gathering on Thursdays. This will be a beginning of a series maybe, with bleepgeeks dj's taking place at Kong. Not sure yet what the content of my record bag will look like but things slowly start to devise as i was lucky to get hands on a few new old records lately, from all over the place. That is and always will be(at least for me) one of the biggest fun parts of deejaying. Selecting records and music for different occasions. Head and hands start working and various records from various places initiate bridges and routes, triggering new ideas with joy and anticipation. The Kong route will surely be warm and wealthy. I've been there once and felt good vibes over there, so i'm just looking forward to work the floor and see some Munich friends! Oh, we were talking music, right!? This just found the way to my record box, a long-term personal favourite on mine:

We got mail from Fried Tofu Headquarters! No, there wasn't any Tofu wrapped in but very good news from the release corner. The faithfully conducted vinyl only label is based around the idea of creating dedicated edits from well known and obscure disco/funk tunes without walking right into the 'bass-war', 'loudness' and 'cheap showmanship' trap, which is sadly the case these days, considering all the imersional and unimaginative edit releases that flood the market(we naturally stay out of the judges and hangmen game though). As opposed to this Fried Tofu is doing super well, has done a great job with its first record and the second one with even more discofied madness is just to come. Fried Tofu is on the bleepgeeks disco radar. Boogie while its hot and before they're gone!

Alexander Wiska with a felicitous Turkish Psych cover song. No surprise, as he had helping hands from Can members Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit. The video on this youtube footage is taken from an old turkish film, aired at Show TV, a well known and truly bad turkish private television station. It's funny and dazing at once, showing an old moustache guy playing ball on the beach with girls and weirdly making party in the night. Again with a lot of girls!

Our heading "Three Records to go for!!!" is meant to highlight you some records, mostly newer ones, that turned out into the bleepgeeks music radar through utterly coincidences, well researched record hunts or any other fortunate circumstances. The stuff we introduce can be dance music, comedy, non-dance music, originals, reissues, bootlegs or limited pieces, we don't separate!

In some cases we just liked the Cover of that Record, sometimes we made a mispurchase and sometimes our mandibles came off because of the music which was carved into the rills!

We won't do any reviews, puffing these records up to holy grails or slam them into wax garbage!

Train-effects and sounds have a long history in dance music, especially in Disco. Donnie Vann (amongst others of course) dedicated a whole song to trains and made his own version of a Disco Train floor-stomper, including a cool break. Came out on To-Keh Records, hahah, what a nice label name!

MK - Decay (1991)

Mark Kinchen a.k.a. MK is at the centre of many legends and sparse information is floating around about him. He's one of the most prolific and creative house music producers/remixers of the nineties, having numerous releases under his MK disguise and various pseudonyms like Area 10 and 4th Measure Men. Decay is his quintessentially Techno effort and marks the beginnings of his career in his Detroit days before he got more associated with New York and the New York House sound, which he helped to shape. This rather special record came out on the legendary Retroactive imprint from Motor City and remains a classic until today. A very talented man he is!
