For Vinyl Collectors & Diggers: Map of 25 Record Stores in Hamburg

Map of the best records stores in Hamburg (Germany) - For Djs, Vinyl Lovers and Collectors
For all Djs, Vinly Lovers and Collectors: If you got the chance to visit the beautiful seaport Hamburg in Germany you are in luck!

A guy named Pete Goge made an effort to pin all record stores of Hamburg onto a Map with detailed local information about each of them.
At the moment 25 Record Stores are listed, e.g.: Smallville Record Store, Otaku Records, Groove City, etc ....

The map was created with uebermaps, which is a service to remember and save favourite spots and places by collecting them in thematic maps. Afterwards you can easily share them with friends, family or the rest of the world. Besides they got options to edit content (local information) collaboratively ... and a iOS App is soon to be released.

Jeff Mills a.k.a. The Wizard – WJLB Detroit Radio-Tapes 1986 – 1989

'In the 1980s, Mills was an influential radio DJ on WJLB under the pseudonym “The Wizard.” Mills’ sets were a highlight of the nightly show from “The Electrifying Mojo”, Jennifer Owens. Complementing Mojo’s eclectic playlists, Mills would do advanced DJ tricks like beat juggling and scratching while mixing obscure Detroit Techno, Miami Bass, Chicago House and classic New Wave tracks both live and using a multi track when pre-recorded. In going on to create his own music Jeff Mills is credited with laying the foundations for the highly influential Detroit Techno collective, Underground Resistance, alongside ‘Mad’ Mike Banks, a former Parliament bass player. Just like Public Enemy did some years before in hip hop, these men confronted the mainstream music industry with revolutionary rhetoric. Dressed in uniforms with skimasks and black combat suits, they were ‘men on a mission’, aiming at giving techno more content and meaning.' Source: Wiki

Jet Set Records Kyoto, Japan

I love the logo of Jet Set Records from Kyoto. Made me order a bag from them a few years back. Their logo borrows from Pan American World Airways and seems to fit perfectly for a big record store with a comprehensive selection. Loved by a lot of dj's, you can find there anything, ranging from Clubsounds to Jazz, Reggae, Japanes Pop, Rock, R&B and more. Always worth a look or two! Photo by cjw333.

Parris Mitchell - All Night Long (Dance Mania)

This is one of my favourite 'Explicit Lyrics House' records of all times. Almost logically released on the great Chicago based Label Dance Mania, All Night Long is a prime example of Dance Manias activities in the mid-nineties. Raw as fuck, underproduced, badly pressed, somewhat mindless, funky as hell, incredibly short and pumped up with explicit lyrics. Dance Mania was a cult imprint(it still is amongst the heads) with a world-wide following(especially in Europe) back in the days, and i wouldn't be surprised if those cuts get unearthed again to a wider audience. Parris Mitchell delivered some pure Ghetto House bliss!

Three Records to go for!!! # 7

Our heading "Three Records to go for!!!" is meant to highlight you some records, mostly newer ones, that turned out into the bleepgeeks music radar through utterly coincidences, well researched record hunts or any other fortunate circumstances. The stuff we introduce can be dance music, comedy, non-dance music, originals, reissues, bootlegs or limited pieces, we don't separate!
In some cases we just liked the Cover of that Record, sometimes we made a mispurchase and sometimes our mandibles came off because of the music which was carved into the rills!
We won't do any reviews, puffing these records up to holy grails or slam them into wax garbage!
It's just made for you to (hopefully) discover new music and new sleeves! We wish you a lot of fun while finding these records at your local record shop on the streets or in your world wide virtual reality through clicking on to your favourite record stop!

Vinyl, we love you lock, stock and barrell!

VINYL – Guy Schraenen’s New Exhibition in Paris @ La Maison Rouge

For all you Vinyl addicts out there in Paris and the rest of the world. British curator and publisher Guy Schraenen will show a display of his collection of almost 800 albums, cassettes, CDs, specialist magazines, reference books, catalogues and artworks from the 1920s onwards.

Here is an excerpt of the press release:

From February 19th to May 16th 2010, la maison rouge presents Vinyl, an exhibition of records and covers compiled by the British collector, publisher and curator Guy Schraenen. For more than 30 years, Guy Schraenen’s fascination with artists’ multiples (objects, catalogues, books, magazines) has led him to amass a unique and highly specialized collection on the theme of sound. Vinyl shows LPs from an acoustic and visual angle to illustrate how artists from the 1920s and throughout the twentieth century have experimented with language and sound. The exhibition presents close to 800 albums alongside tapes, CDs, specialist magazines, reference books, catalogues and artworks. As artists began to work with sound, and as records and covers became media for the visual arts, a new and extremely creative art form appeared...
