Zinc - Amazon (1982)

Been listening to this more often lately. Classic track and a great finger exercise by Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malavasi, who are better known for their speedy and uptempo Disco antics. On Amazon they slow things down and the sunny ocean comes closer. I guess this was big in the early eighties around Baia degli Angeli and the likes. Amazon fever!

Stevie Nicks - Smiling At You (Young Edits Going Home Version)

Kojak Giant Sounds is an edit label from Finnland and looks strongly connected to Traveller Records from Turku. Their releases seem a bit off the radar as not many German retailers carry their releases. Having already issued nearly a dozen records, their treatment of Stevie Nicks' 'Smiling At You' is one of my favourites from last year. Pure balearic bliss and always ready to bring some summerish feelings on the table!

Lexx in the mix for Test Pressing

The Zürich based dj and producer Lexx is a man who plays in a league of his own and his mixes never disappoint! The newest masterstroke from Drumpoet Recordings' nicest gentleman is for Test Pressing and simply marks one of the best mixes i came across lately. I imagine chilling on a bright rooftop in Acapulco, making myself comfortable on a huge hammock, enjoying the sunset and sharing my good moods with my closest friends and this mix exactly, would be the best soundtrack for all this and many more! Very very very big favourite already!

Edgar Winter - Above And Beyond (Instrumental Mix) (1979)

Up and away to the blue Skies! Above and Beyond is a very classic tune from a very unusual source. Edgar Winter is the younger brother of the blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter and not only due to this, most of his compositions were similar to the efforts of his older brother. But if you look more precisely to the release info, you will just notice a very familiar name in the disco game, no less than Tom Moulton. If nothing else, with his little help, Edgar turned his ideas into pure gold!

Roberto Lodola - Marimba Do Mar (Fusion Version)

Even not the merest sunbeam on the sky right now, but i have the largest possible summer feelings with this Bossa Nova tune here from italian producer Roberto Lodola who got kind helps by George Aghedo on Percussions. Marimba Do Mar was released on the underrated Academy Records imprint and enqueues itself into the wave of afro- and fusioninfected productions. Would some kids say Balearic!? Would some kids strain their boundaries for this kind of fragrant cheesiness!? It's just Ibiza in 1986, i promise!
