A really unknown gender from New York. Has a lovely post-punky mood, from this girls only group. With a killing flip side you also should know about! From 1982 on Oblique Records.
We haven't heard our sweetheart Hunee playing for a long time now. We also didn't met for a few months, which is an even sadder thing but seeing him doing good and spreading great music and nice vibes all around is somewhat balm for our souls. Hugs to Huneeeeeeeeeeeee!
Some mix of Psychedelic and Bossa Nova, maybe Tropicália? Correct me if my classification is faulty. Nonetheless, the break at around 1:50 is mind blowing!
Here we have an exclusive DJ mix of our dude Sotofett, recorded live at his Berlin hideout ahead of his UK debut appearance. Sex Tags Mania for better living!

Since i'm a big fan of the Tennis Sport. Sample-heavy synth-wave from Kurt Dahlke. Recorded in 1981, so even before the big Tennis hype took start in Germany with the likes of Boris Becker and Steffi Graf. Visionary Dahlke. Released on Konnekschen Records. What a label name, hahahah!
Only on 7-inch release featuring two sublime German Disco productions by the relatively unknown Studioband Joyce with a lot of spacey elements on both songs, giving them the icing on the cake. We call this a great two-sider(i'll upload the other track later)! More please!
From Scratch (1980) Geoff Chapple, Phil Dadson, Wayne Laird, Don McGlashan. Gung Ho means 'work together" and takes it's title from the gung ho workers' co-operative movement established in China in 1938 by New Zealander(www.sonicsfromscratch.co.nz) Rewi Alley (1897 - 1987). The one hour work is in 7 sections, 3,4,5 through to 9,10,11, with each module exploring consecutive number, triadic and tonal permutations. Each module gets progressively longer as the piece evolves.
The video is an excerpt of the 8,9,10 module only and is an edit from a performance of three modules originally filmed in 1980 for the TVNZ arts programme Kaleidescope, directed by Gray Taylor.
Single extraction from their supa-rare LP, as most of the Reynolds releases do. Very mid to end 80s sounding, great mood, sophisticated, som' e-guitar. That's the way i like to feel.
Wire Magazine offers a great listening session of classic and unknown Turkish Psych and Anatolian Pop songs from legendery musicians like Cem Karaca, Erkin Koray, Selda and more. It's a great entry to turkish music for those, who are not familiar with this genre as The Wire additionally provides short but well researched background information on the songs and artists. Listening duty! Illustration by Savage Pencil.
Our man Finn doing an extended and insightful interview with ra, talking about his first steps in deejaying, the legendary Hamburg club FRONT, the discogs issue, his label Macro and other funny and interesting things. So nice!
Planet Mu is going to release the first solo album of 'New-Wunderkind' Ital from New York, who is also known for his output on 100% Silk Records or his glorious projects Mi Ami and Sex Worker. We're curious...
Having no new models to reveal at the 1980 Paris Salon, Citroën stylist Trevor Fiore was given the go ahead to build a model (not a driveable car) for display.
The result was the trapezoidal Karin, clearly inspired by Michel Harmand's design for a GS Coupé.
A three seater with the driver being seated centrally and ahead of the two passengers, this layout pre-empted that of the McLaren F1 of 1992.
Intergalactic Gary has dozens of fantastic mixes(check the robotsforrobots site to get a glimpse) floating around the world wide web and i could choose any of them to present his very own style of putting an expressive mix together. I chose his mix for the Triphouse page, just because it's the last one i've listened to. This man tells stories!
Our first booking in 2012 is no less a figure than Intergalactic Gary from The Hague! The man has quite a story, as he's connected to the club and radio scene in Holland for more than 20 years now. He's one of the greatest ambassadors of the Intergalactic fm and Viewlexx sound and a killer dj all through! We're very pleased to welcome him in Ulm for the first time!
Starcrash (original Italian title Scontri stellari oltre la terza dimensione, literally "stellar clashes beyond the third dimension") is an Italian 1978 science fiction film, which was also released under the English title of The Adventures of Stella Star (in the US). The film is a low budget and is often regarded as a rip-off of Star Wars (1977). The screenplay was written by Luigi Cozzi (pen name Lewis Coates) and Nat Wachsberger, and Cozzi also directed the film. The cast included Marjoe Gortner, Caroline Munro, Robert Tessier, Christopher Plummer, and David Hasselhoff. The original music score was by Oscar winning composer John Barry (Midnight Cowboy, Goldfinger, Somewhere in Time, Dances with Wolves).
It was filmed in Technicolor with Dolby sound, and has a runtime of 94 minutes. The US release is 92 minutes, and received an MPAA rating of PG. The film is generally regarded by critics as a campy Z movie with cheap special effects and a weak, derivative plot that some people find unintentionally humorous. It appeared a couple of years after the original Star Wars and tries to re-mix the same elements, but without much success. It has been compared to Plan 9 from Outer Space.
We were playing records, talking records, checking records, signing records and of course, listening to records during our funny radio show last weekend. The term detroitish(which we found cruising the web) was the trigger for some serious talk followed by collective noisy laughter as it sounds a bit rowdy and somehow like a message of half-truth. It's funny and useable anyway. I was just checking through my collection for Detroit Techno the other day and got reminded on the KEYNOTES release by relatively unsung hero Art Forest, which came out on Detroit based Incognito Records. Art Forest always seems like he was the man working behind the curtain. I'm a fan of his tracks and Enter - State is amongst his very best. Frantic melodies and romantic strings shape into pure Detroit perfection. Art made art!
Super dry and slick Funk exercise by the Precision camp from Chicago. Vince Lawrence on mixing duties and the young Byron Stingily on Vocals. Executive production by suspicious Larry Sherman. Tune!
Happy Saturday! We're having our radio show tonite. Lots of new tunes waiting to get explored, followed by 2 little, hot and sweet dj sets from Paul Harway and J.! Fun starts at 10.00 pm! Available via 102.6 MHz and stream.
Trevor Jackson has assembled an essential compilation for Strut Records, which contains his favourite tunes from the early till late eighties. His selection sheds light on great pieces of music, ranging from Post Punk to Ebm crossing Industrial and tellingly shows a great mixture between classic tracks and rare pieces. The former operator and designer of Output Recordings, whose works i always highly valued, showed once again that he has his fingers on the pulse of the time. In the interview above the man behind the Playgroup moniker sits down to speak about his musical influences, London nightlife and his entry to the design occupation. The compilation will be released in early Spring, so watch out, this is a must have!
I love the logo of Jet Set Records from Kyoto. Made me order a bag from them a few years back. Their logo borrows from Pan American World Airways and seems to fit perfectly for a big record store with a comprehensive selection. Loved by a lot of dj's, you can find there anything, ranging from Clubsounds to Jazz, Reggae, Japanes Pop, Rock, R&B and more. Always worth a look or two! Photo by cjw333.
