Blind Date - Don't change the program

Catchy B-Side with fly away appeal, growing big at the end. Filled with vocoder stuff and e-guitars and english (i suppose) female guest singers. Otherwise very germanesque.
Produced by Emmo Reiss for Ton + Vision. Engineered by Piotr Siedlaczek/Mixed by Andy Lunn at Artlab Studios/Frankfurt. Uwe Schlürmann (Vocals), Mathias Baumgardt (Guitar), Christian Felke (Sax./Keyb), Peter Koch (Perc./Drums), Elaine and Amy Goff (Vocals).

Basil Hardhouse - The Smooth Track (1991)

This post is dedicated to my friend Ari from the Beautiful Swimmers, who reminded me of this little beauty from the deep and spectacular Nu Groove vaults!
The Record simply shows the vast diversity of our beloved and cult New York dance Label Nu Groove Records, which mainly operated from late eighties until the golden New York house years of the early nineties in an exemplary way(mistakenly considered by many as a straight House and Techno imprint). As the name implies, The Smooth Track is a dreamy, light and jazzy downbeat affair, spreading magic over eight minutes to get lost in it. I always want to have a repeat button on my turntable when i hear this! Thanks Ari, for making me dig this gem out again. Smooth greetings to D.C.!

Time for Cloudbusting

A cloudbuster (or cloud buster) is a device invented by Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich with the purpose of draining clouds of "orgone energy". Reich believed that such energy surrounded the earth, and that a cloudbuster would act as a rain-maker. Reich conducted dozens of experiments with the cloudbuster, calling the research "Cosmic Orgone Engineering."

"Cloudbusting" is a song that was written, produced and performed by the British singer Kate Bush. It was the second single released from her no.1 1985 album Hounds of Love. "Cloudbusting" peaked at no.20 in the UK Singles Chart.

The song is a look at a special relationship between a boy and his father. It describes psychologist Wilhelm Reich's arrest and imprisonment through the eyes of his young son, Peter. Reich's son later wrote his father's story in the book A Book Of Dreams, published in 1973, on which the song is based. Wilhelm Reich is the inventor of the cloudbuster, which the rain machine in the video and on the cover of the single closely resembles.

Restaurant Little Otik in Berlin

The Little Otik is a new and very pleasant addition to the rich and diverse restaurant scenery of Berlin. It opened its doors just a few months ago in August and i already heard a lot of good things about the dishes served over there. Run by our friend Jeffrey Sfire(who incidentally comes amongst our favourite italo djs) and his Partner Kevin Avery from New York, Little Otik serves quality and classic european dishes, supporting local cultivation and farmers, plus fruit and vegetable purchases on the markets in and around Berlin, by sophisticated chief Avery.
It is a follow up to their highly successfull Palisaden Supper Club dinner project, were they monthly invited 10 people(by e-mail processing) to their home for a three course meal. The small and sought-out menu of Gräfestraße 10 based Little Otik changes nearly every day(as its printed on a daily basis) and is mostly based on vegetarian dishes and various types of meats on the main course. One of the most eye-cathing things about the menu is the wide choice of desserts like Apple Almond Crumb Pie or Parsnip Cake with Brown Sugar Caramel, which surely makes sweet teeths very happy!
Opening times are from Wednesday till Saturday starting at 6 in the evening. My friends told me that its wise to make a reservation(tel. 030-50362301). I'm already looking forward to say hi to Jeffrey and getting my belly satisfied!

Primadonna - Flashing On The Floor (1984)

Another one for the neverending ZYX saga! German collectors know what i'm talking about. No digging around Germany without ZYXation! Primadonna was originally released on italian label Many Records and became licensed by ZYX Records for the german market. Flashing On The Floor delivers everything what your italo heart wants! A male voice, a female voice, hilarious lyrics, a charming accent, cheap production and flying synths, which beam you up on a big room floor with 2000 hands in the air! Where's the next party?

Hot Line - Disco Zoo

Very clean sounding disco record without bigger experiments or crazy arrangement; more for the overground than for the underground. But one thing's really funny... The Disco Zoo...
The LP was produced by Olaf Kübler in 1978 in Munich. Released on Ariola. Please click on the green picture to enlarge and get the background information about how the record materialised (taken from the inlay).

La Mama - Boy you lift me up

I found this one at the beloved hometowns record fair. The only thing i knew about this LP was, that there should be handful of good euro/german-dancey-tracks on it. And my little knowledge was right. Just 3 tracks are quite good dancers in the mood of Chic, the rest ist horrible german disco-whatsoever-crap in this typical Hansa-Record-vein.

Recorded at:
FAR Studios, Rosbach. ARCO Studios, Munich. Atlantis Studio, Munich. Rainbow Studio, Munich. Union Studios, Munich.

Musicians:
Drums: Curt Cress, Bass: Mats Björklund, Günter Gebauer
Git.: Mats Björklund, Johann Daansen
Piano and Keyboards: Kristian Schulze, Harry Baierl, Patrick Gammon, Mats Björklund
Sax: Booby Stern.

La Mama is Madeleine Davis, Patricia Shockley and Cathy Bartney.

Produced by D. Kawohl and M. Björklund For Frank Farian Productions.

Sa. 16.10.2010.: bleepgeeks @ eden feat. Benjamin Roeder(Spectacle/Muc) & Marvin Carl Schuhmann(Tell Your Taxidriver/Muc)

We feel Love! Millions and squillions of records have been played in Munichs gleaming and hedonistic nightlife after Giorgio Moroders synth attacks on Donna Summers hyper sexy voice, which was back in the good old days in the late seventies, were glitter bras seemed to be state of the art and turntables had no pitch function to get abused. And yes, Munich is still one of the most "Disco" cities in Germany and Europe, with great record labels and nightclubs of international shape, fraternally going hand in hand and taking care on the cities heritage for quality electronic music.

Our dear guests Benjamin Roeder and Marvin Carl Schuhmann became integral parts of Munichs underground dance music scene in the last few years. The curly haired simpatico Roeder made big waves with his highly-acclaimed "GLXY" nights were he played memorable sessions alongside well known selectors like Rahaan, Horse Meat Disco and Cosmo Vitelli, just to name a few. His dj-sets grace a lot of clubnights in the most popular spots around munich and europe, making people happy and sweaty. Benjamins newest baby is a music production project with his brother in crime Muallem, which goes by the name "Spectacle", with the objective of sounding out the borders between balearic easiness and jacking floorburners. The results just have seen the lights of the world on friend-label Permanent Vacation.

The renowned crate-digger and beloved gentleman Marvin Carl Schuhmann simply embodies the new force in the dj circuit of the ever-inspiring bavarian capital and he is one of the speer heads of young and aspiring musicians around the glorious city center. Using the Vienna-Munich axis to play back and forth, his clubnight called Tell Your Taxidriver at Erste Liga Club became his most favourite playground, to prove his ability to move people every single week, whether as a dj duo with his mate Valentino or solo as Marvin Bowtie. He is cooking his meals special, with the best ingredients from europe, chiefly italy, and all the other good places, experienced foodies should know.

Let's shake it to the ground!

Check their sites for further info and sketches!
